Increasing operational efficiency with Oracle Analytics Cloud Service
Customer profile
Our customer is one of the world’s largest offshore drilling companies with operations spanning six continents and revenues of more than £2bn.
They operate Drilling Ships, Jack Up Rigs and Semi-Submersibles globally and are listed on the NYSE.
Energy companies are under constant pressure to increase efficiency and reduce operating costs. As part of this effort, our customer wanted to improve its ability to analyze Supply Chain related data across the business and move away from manual analysis to automated analytics.
A specific area of attention was Purchase Price Comparison analysis, where the customer wanted to able to see, for a specific part, all the historic prices paid by period and vendor. Such analysis would be used to support negotiations on future procurement. The customer saw a further opportunity for improvement in its Asset Maintenance activities. Data was held in multiple systems, which led to inaccuracies and challenges with pulling together information on the key metrics on which the business needed to report, such as, asset manufacturer, criticality, rig type and asset location.
The customer was already using Oracle PeopleSoft and PBCS and having considered alternatives, Inoapps was engaged to implement Oracle Analytics Cloud Service in the US division of the business. This would provide a single reporting platform for the business to use across all source systems, improving the quality of insight available in Supply Chain and Asset Maintenance.
As part of the selection process, Inoapps supported Oracle with several meetings on site in Houston, TX and built a fully-fledged Proof of Concept model demonstrating the analytical capability of the solution, which impressed the customer greatly. Inoapps worked closely with Oracle’s Account Management Team and the client’s internal project team to build trust and confidence in the ability of Inoapps and Oracle to deliver the project.
This project represents a huge strategic step for the customer towards an integrated Oracle Analytics platform
