Customer profile
Founded in the 1970s as a small regional industrial service company that specialized in process plant maintenance, today our customer is the leading national provider of specialty maintenance services to America’s energy infrastructure. With 90 service locations across the country, the business has over 2,300 employees.
Business need
Our customer had previously outsourced its core human resources activities, including complex multi-union, multi-state payroll operations, to an external service provider. However, they were dissatisfied with the service and rising costs. One of the business’s biggest challenges was long applicant tracking and onboarding processes across its operations, which led to unacceptably long lead times and inflexibility in resourcing projects.
These issues made it hard to keep pace with the competition and ultimately grow the business. They realized things needed to change. After reviewing their HR systems and processes, our customer concluded that they needed to implement a modern integrated talent management and HR solution that would scale to support growth and manage their complex payroll operations. The HR and IT teams evaluated a number of suppliers including Workday, Paycom, ADP and iCims.
The solution
Key stakeholders selected Oracle and Inoapps for a two-phase cloud implementation project that included Oracle Talent Acquisition Cloud (Phase I) followed by Core Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, and Time & Labor in the Cloud (Phase II).
Implementing Oracle Talent Acquisition Cloud has eliminated redundancies within the hiring process, and increased the speed to deploy applicants, which will create a competitive advantage and increase top line revenue opportunities for the business.
Payroll was implemented in the Cloud on time and on budget and has been greatly simplified and speeded up due to standardized processes. Core HCM, Time & Labor will complete the circle, providing a single source of employee information across the business. This will reduce the complexities and manual input required to maintain a growing organization, and also support decision-making with the right information available at the right time.
We have built a trusted partnership that has created a platform for expansion of the customer relationship. Our customer is now looking to the future and considering further system enhancements, including a career development solution and other custom applications.
The outcome
- Estimated savings of $2m over 5 years over the incumbent service provider
- Reduction in length of onboarding to 2 weeks with the introduction of standardized processes
- A single source of data for all HR and payroll activities
- Immediate consumption of innovation and best practices through software updates
- Ability to quickly scale up activities in the cloud to support growth
- Simplified, quicker payroll operations
