Inoapps and PA customer serve Pittsburgh community middle school students

By Olivia Frey, North American Alliance Director, Inoapps

Most of the work between Oracle and its partners centers around winning new business and providing best in class solutions to those customers. This week, we're changing things up as we take part in Oracle's #4000ActsOfKindness week, an initiative organized by Oracle's North America Applications team, which focuses on giving back to our communities and the impact that can make.

To kick off the week, Inoapps and joint customer, Equitrans Midstream, worked together to serve the Pittsburgh community via the MathCounts competition.

MathCounts, supported by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), is a math competition for sixth to eighth grade students. PSPE is an organization of more than 1,000 professional engineers and industry partners in Pennsylvania. PSPE supports their members and the community via various engagement opportunities throughout the year.

Over 125 students from more than a dozen middle schools in the area participated in this MathCounts event - the first since the pandemic. Volunteers from both organizations proctored and graded the students’ exams, which resulted in a handful of individuals advancing to the state competition, which will be held later this year.

Inoapps’ VP of HR, Toby Schwab, and Linda Baacke, Senior Oracle EBS Consultant, joined colleagues from the Equitrans Midstream team to share their talents and support these middle schoolers. Tobie Engel, Director of Finance, and Linda Morgano, Senior Business Analyst, joined by several of their colleagues in the Pittsburgh area, participated in grading of the exams as well.

Toby Schwab: “Being part of Oracle’s 4,000 Acts of Kindness initiative was very rewarding, and participating alongside colleagues from our valued customer, made it all the more enjoyable. It was tremendous to see all of the local schools that participated in the MathCounts competition, and the efforts of the students, both individual and teams, that gave it their all. This was a great experience and one that I would be pleased to support again in the future. Congratulations to all of the participants and students that advanced to the state finals.

Linda Baacke: “I found the activity very interesting, easy to be a part of and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Two of the middle schools participating were from what used to be my children’s school district, so when we were figuring out the top 10 to 15 students for the final round, it was nice to hear that a few of the kids were from the North Allegheny school district. It was great to meet two of the representatives from Equitrans who were also volunteering, before we started grading the tests. I just wish we had a little longer to chat afterwards!”

Thank you to the Oracle team for sponsoring such an incredible nation-wide initiative, which is sure to surpass the goal of 4,000 acts of kindness. Inoapps looks forward to participating in the next iteration of this positive program.
