AI is top of mind across most institutions, and this was certainly the case at the 2025 Oracle Higher Education Summit at Baylor University in Waco, TX.
Two hundred and fifty Higher Education (HE) thought leaders, strategists and partners gathered to share lessons learned, best practices and ideas about the future of HE. Attendees participated in over 25 sessions covering Oracle Cloud, Student Applications, Finance, Human Capital Management and Enterprise Performance Management.
AI wasn’t merely a session. It was woven into every topic, and attendees weren’t satisfied to just discuss AI from an academic point of view. They wanted to know how AI can improve services for students and conditions for staff and faculty.
Here are a few of the innovative ideas shared
Student Personalization
Here AI Chatbots can improve student engagement, provide personalized learning assistance, and streamline admin. Bots can be developed to answer questions 24/7, provide instant feedback and access to resources.
Consider a chatbot that assists with identifying the courses required to complete an academic program, or charts the most effective path for timely completion of a chosen degree.
At the summit, Oracle demonstrated how AI can address rapidly changing scenarios for Enrollment and Student Financial Aid. We saw how this could help institutions reach potential students, while ensuring compliance, and the right student-institution fit.
Streamlined Administrative Tasks
Universities are wrestling with the rising cost of education for students. Administrators need to do more with less, but find themselves doing the same tasks over and over again.
Oracle has embedded dozens of Generative AI Agents into Oracle Fusion that streamline processes, offload repetitive tasks and simplify routine activities. Here are just a few examples:
Oracle Cloud Finance and Planning
Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM)
Oracle AI Agent Studio
Taking things a step further, the new Oracle AI Agent Studio, part of the Oracle Cloud Applications Suite, helps you create and manage your own AI agents. It gives you easy-to-use tools, including testing, validation, and built-in security.
Using the same technology Oracle uses to create AI agents, it lets you easily extend pre-packaged agents or create new ones, and then deploy and manage them across your institution. AI agents designed this way seamlessly integrate with Oracle Fusion Apps and can collaborate with third-party agents to complete complex and multi-step processes.
AI in a Legacy World
Discussions about the Oracle Platform looked at how institutions using legacy applications like E-Business Suite (EBS) and Peoplesoft can leverage AI Services available with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). These services bring Oracle Digital Assistants, Data Science, Natural Language and Vector search capabilities to legacy and custom applications near you.
Have a look at how our Inoapps Archiving Solution gave us the perfect use case for AI and now lets you query your archived legacy data using natural language prompts.
